Iconic Ads: Christmas Edition

Snow, Christmas trees, jingle bells, panettone, lights, and even Santa Claus – these are the elements of Christmas advertisements. Get your tissues ready, you're in for tears and nose-blowing with these automotive (and more) ads we're about to show you.
Let's start with Coca-Cola.You might wonder what the connection is, let us explain. The scene opens with a dad who has to leave for work and his little girl, looking sad, hands him a letter to give to Santa Claus. In the second scene, the dad is working on an offshore platform and, having wasted time drinking a Coca-Cola, he fails to post his daughter's letter. This leads to a long series of adventures to deliver this important letter, ignoring the complaints about abandoning his job. After what seems like weeks of misfortunes, having traveled by every means possible, the exhausted father, with icicles hanging from his nose, reaches Santa Claus' door but it’s too late, the door is closed. And who solves the situation? The Coca-Cola truck filled with lights! It picks up the exhausted dad and brings him home safely. Plot twist: the little girl just wanted her dad to come home for Christmas (tear-jerker). Second plot twist: who’s driving the Coca-Cola truck? Santa Claus!Regarding the truck, I can’t tell you much more, except that it’s used in almost all of Coca-Cola's ads, decorated with millions of lights and, as in this case, saves the day.
Moving on to Audi, which brings in an exceptional testimonial.Santa Claus, on Christmas night, is at work. He does his duty, delivers presents, and eats cookies. The lights of a red Audi distract him, and out of the car steps a very handsome man and his blonde girlfriend. Santa Claus looks at his reflection in the mirror, realizing he doesn't quite match the owner of the shiny red car parked in the driveway. From there, everything changes: Santa Claus decides to get in shape, wakes up at 6 every morning, goes for a run, finds a tough but kind-hearted personal trainer, says no to cookies, and even eats broccoli!Mrs. Claus sees a magazine and figures it all out. On the eve of the following Christmas, when Santa Claus shows up in his new body (he even cuts his hair and beard, a point I might argue), amid the elves' applause, the personal trainer (I told you he was kind hearted) says, “Oh Santa, we got you a little something,” and ta da! The red Audi, pulled by reindeer ready for retirement, arrives.Tearful moment between Mrs. Claus and Santa Claus. It all ends with our hero proudly driving his roaring car to deliver the gifts.
Hold on, there's a sequel. After a few years, Audi again annoys Santa Claus but the fit one with a beard and short hair mentioned above. Dressed to the nines he stands in front of his window watching the most beautiful northern lights ever, checking the time on his onion clock when here comes an elf to take him to discover his new company car.The elf, who is more like 007, tells him "ah Santa, here's your new sleigh" and then "welcome to the future." The macho Santa really likes the Audi e-tron GT, how can you blame him?
Now it’s Volkswagen's turn.Take the most Christmassy tune ever, add some bored little men, a pinch of fun, and you've got the combo. Volkswagen dealership clerks play Jingle Bells by tapping in time on the cars.Fun.
We finish beautifully with Toyota.A little girl sends a letter every day, each containing different crafts smeared with glue and glitter. On Christmas Eve, like other days, she goes with her mom to the mailbox to send another of her crafts, it's snowing but their Toyota isn't scared.Reaching the mailbox, the girl gets out and sees a tree decorated with her glittery crafts and from behind the tree emerges her dad dressed in military uniform.Tearful moment for the family hug and the slogan that reads “Let’s bring the love home this holiday”
Here we are at the end of this roundup of iconic Christmas ads. Did you get emotional? We did, especially for the graphics of the Audi e-tron GT!
Before we leave you we remind you:
in case you missed the first parts of this journey through the most beautiful car commercials ever.
