Alfa Romeo 4C Hokusai

Everybody knows that the Milanese Biscione is a very popular brand in Japan. A few years ago, in one of the first projects of Garage Italia, we wanted to pay homage to Japanese culture, combining Japanese art with all-Italian skills in high quality craftsmanship. The result of the creative clash of know-how is a fully customized Alfa Romeo 4C, on the livery as well as in the interior. The livery, fully handmade, reproduces one of the most famous works of Japanese art in the world,“The Great Wave”, by Katsushika Hokusai.
The wave, hand painted and finished with the airbrush technique, breaks on the livery of the Arese based car maker, creating a perfect match between the disruptive force of the water and the feeling of speed of the Alfa Romeo 4C.
The interior has the same energy and dynamism as the livery, with door and seat panels in Kurabo denim and cream-colored Foglizzo leather inserts, worked like carp scales, in Japanese ‘Koi’, one of the country’s iconic fish. This species is considered full of energy and strength, always on the move: it is also able to swim against the tide, which is interpreted both as the will to pursue its own way despite of the current, and as the ability to overcome difficult situations.
Last but not least the real gem, the intertwined details of the steering wheel and the handbrake lever inspired by Tsukamaki, the technique of coating the hilt of a Katana. And if you want to explore the strong link between our cars and Japanese culture, do not miss our Car-Toons Vol.1, Vol.2 e Vol.3!!
