M&Ms Vol.2 A Bathing Ape x Pagani

One of the most interesting collaborations between car manufacturers and streetwear brands was the one between Pagani and A Bathing Ape on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the birth of the Pagani Zonda. The company from San Cesario Sul Panaro, that you also remember for the Huayra Lampo, the four-handed one off with us from Garage Italia, confirms to be one of the most open minded and receptive to new trends: proof of this is the decision to launch the collection during the Suzuka Sound of Engine 2019, setting a pop-up store and the display of a Zonda wrapped in the iconic camo ABC pattern in full blue and decal Bape.
The event of the most exciting automotive kermesse ever according to many fans.We could call it the Japanese answer to Le Mans Classic or the Goodwood Festival Of Speed, but it is much more than just a pure celebration of motorsport. It includes lots of other goodies to discover: it’s hard to get bored. And in fact, the response from the public was excellent, with the pop-up literally stormed during the two days of Suzuka to admire the supercar customized for the event, also starring a lap on the track. In short, the meeting between one of the most colorful streetwear brands of the rising sun and the Italian sports car manufacturer did not disappoint expectations.
The collabo also gave life to a Bape capsule that includes a hoodie, tees, a cap, two cotton shopping bags and assorted stickers. It is curious that the founder of Pagani Automobili, Horacio Pagani, also willingly lent his image to a rework in perfect Bape style, which became one of the most appreciated graphics of the entire collection.
Horacio himself tells then how the two companies gradually came closer together. Both brands are in fact known throughout the world, united by a rich history and a continuous aesthetic research driven by an innate and inexhaustible passion. The common goal is to create emotions that bring people together. Hence the idea to collaborate with Bape, to allow as many people as possible to be part of the Pagani universe without buying one of their cars.
As a great traveler, Horatio was already aware of the streetwear brand founded by Nigo, but he associated it with a very young audience. But, after meeting several of his clients abroad, he saw that many of them wore Bape in their spare time, which substantially changed his perception and convinced him to go down swinging. And in fact the combination of the two brands, apparently so different, seems to work great.
